  3. Welcome to the "Toolkit for Red Alert" CDROM!

  5. This CDROM contains editors, new levels/maps, FAQs (Frequently Asked
  6. Questions) and documentation, save games, and hacks/cheats.  There is
  7. enough material on this CD to keep you busy for weeks!
  8.  
  9. This is the first CDROM we have consciously tried to provide an appealing
  10. html interface.  Pop open Netscape or Internet Explorer and try it.

  38. Quick Start Instructions:
  39.  
  40.   Windows 3.1/NT:
  41.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  42.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  43.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  44.  
  45.   MSDOS Quick Start:
  46.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  47.     Example:
  48.           C:\> D:
  49.           D:\> view
  50.  
  51.   Windows 95:
  52.     Insert the cdrom into the cdrom drive.  This will automatically
  53.     start a CDROM browser program called WinView.
  54.     Alternatively, you can also install the program group and icon
  55.     by selecting the "Start" menu and choosing "Run".  At the Run
  56.     box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  58. Using the index.htm:
  59.  
  60. We have included index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  61. to view our disc.

  63. In order to view this disc using these index.htm files, point your
  64. Web browser to the root level index.htm file.

  66. For example, in Netscape:

  68.   1. Click on "File"
  69.   2. Click on "Open File"
  70.   3. Choose your CDROM drive
  71.   4. Select the index.htm file

  73. In Internet Explorer:

  81. The index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 3.0 (Windows,
  82. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), and Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows).

  88. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program WinView
  89. for Windows, and the program VIEW for MSDOS on the CDROM.  These programs
  90. allow you to page through index files, browse through directories on the
  91. CD, view documentation and uncompress/install the program(s) you want
  92. onto your hard disk.

  99. be considered to be a sort of try before you buy system where you are
  100. expected to pay the program author a registration fee if you find the
